Subaru
Subaru, in Japanese, means “Unite.” Fuji Heavy Industries—FHI—is Subaru’s parent company. Subaru has manufacturing facilities and operations in North America, Europe, Middle East, and parts of Asia.
During the 1990’s, FHI established two corporate policies after inaugurating a three-point corporate philosophy. FHI’s philosophy unites customer satisfaction, distinctive products, global perspective, prosperity of society, and harmony between people, society, and the environment. FHI’s first policy considers customer satisfaction to be the first priority, with “world-class quality” assuring customer satisfaction. FHI’s second policy focuses on protecting the environment.
Subaru engineers and manufactures vehicles for a broad range of activities. With all wheel drive and excellent safety ratings, the Subaru family of cars is popular with outdoor sports enthusiasts, road rally aficionados, and parents transporting children.
Subaru has been exploring ways to reduce traffic accidents to zero. In the “pursuit of safety”, Subaru has developed “Eyesight”, a collision avoidance system. Eyesight protects drivers by detecting threats and either warns the driver or takes action to eliminate the threat. Subaru’s Impreza, Legacy, Outback, Forester, and Tribeca have received the 2012 Top Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. In April 2011, Consumer Reports reported that the Subaru brand still makes some of the best overall vehicles.
