Italian automobile manufacturer Maserati was founded in 1914 by six brothers and has transformed itself into a renowned leader in the world of exotic sports cars. The brothers were racing enthusiasts who won the Indianapolis 500 and several other races in their custom built vehicles. They also set a World C-class speed record in 1929. This success led to their conquest of the open road in 1947 with the introduction of the A6 coupe and the 3500GT in the mid-1950s. As the company shifted its focus from the race course to exotic road vehicles, its engineering and design prowess was revealed in the 330-horsepower, sleekly styled Ghibli.

The company faced financial and sales difficulties for several decades but re-emerged with its Spyder and four-seat coupe models that had powerful engines, Formula One inspired gear boxes and Giugiaro styling. As a result, the company reentered the U.S. market that it abandoned in 1991. Today, Maserati has reintroduced its luxury sports sedan, the Quattroporte and markets it alongside the GranTourismo coupe and the GranCabrio convertible. Maserati offers high performance and Italian styling at considerable savings when compared to other marquee names. Maserati pays homage to its record setting past as it achieves commercial success in 57 countries around the world.
