Hyundai
Established in 1947, the Hyundai Motor Company is a South Korean firm that has risen to be one of the largest companies in the nation. Originally founded by Chung Ju-yung, the business first focused on the construction industry before moving into automobiles and other industries. Today, Hyundai has a strong presence with the Kia brand, producing roughly 1.6 million cars per year, most popular of which are the Elantra compact and Sonata midsize sedan.
Hyundai was faced with major economic challenges following the 1997 Asian financial crisis. The organization was restructured, focusing heavily on manufacturing, shipping and tourism. It also went through major divisional changes in 2001 with the death of its founder. Today, the company ranks number four in the world amongst automobile manufacturers. It has a strong focus on charitable donations, particularly in regards to the medical health of its home country.
Moving forward, Hyundai intends on expanding its operations. As of 2011, the company sells its vehicles in 193 countries, most successfully in eastern and southern Asia. One of its most important focuses over the next decade will be the Indian market, which is one of the fastest growing in the world. The Hyundai Motor Company is revered by many people around the world and appears to investors to remain one of the most popular on the planet.
