Ford Motor Company was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford in Dearborn, Michigan. It has grown over the years to become the second largest automotive manufacturer in the United States and the fifth largest worldwide. Henry Ford’s innovative assembly line techniques enabled the Model T, America’s first affordable car, to transform the social and economic fabric of the country. Today, this pioneering approach to manufacturing lives on as the Rouge Center, a facility originally constructed in 1918, has once again been transformed to meet the lean, flexible and sustainable manufacturing processes required in the 21st century.

From its Model T beginnings, Ford has produced several of America’s other iconic names such as the Lincoln Continental, the Thunderbird, the Mustang and the F-Series pick-up, the country’s number one selling vehicle. To meet the demand for more environmentally friendly vehicles, Ford has hybrid models across its full line of cars, trucks, crossovers and SUVs. The company also manufactures several highly, fuel efficient models such as the Focus and the Figo.

Ford is positioning itself for future growth in the global market place by engaging in joint ventures, reallocating resources, becoming more environmentally friendly with the introduction of several alternative fuel vehicles and introducing more advanced in-cabin technology to make driving a more pleasurable experience.
