The BMW auto manufacturer, also known as Bavarian Motor Works, began as a producer of aircraft engines, not automobiles. They produced engines throughout World War I, and shortly after the end of the war they moved into the production of cars and motorbikes. The history of their aircraft origins can be seen clearly in the emblem that adorns their current projects. The circular design shows two aircraft propellers circling through a blue sky.

Today, BMW owns several different branches of automobiles. On the more economical side, they own and produce the Mini Cooper, a sporty car that has become popular with a younger generation. On the fancier side, BMW also owns Rolls Royce, which is known for luxury, and most recently, for their blend of luxury and power.

Under their specific name brand, a variety of models are produced. The BMW 1-, 3-, 5-, 6-, and 7-series cars all have an element of sport packaged with a high level of safety and sophistication. X-series sport utility vehicles are also part of their fleet, which are tailored to families. Finally, the M badge adorns many of their high-end sport models, cars and SUV’s with all the sophistication of a normal BMW plus heaps of power, responsiveness, and handling capability.  BWM plans to continue producing high-quality vehicles and maintain a sufficient lead among the competitors in its class.
