Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford started British automobile manufacturer Aston Martin in 1914 to produce cars that combined elegance and high performance. As a result, the company produces only top-of-the-line, sleek, road hugging sports cars.

Aston Martin was well known in racing circles, but suffered financial difficulties during the late 1920s and early 1930s. It was in 1947 that the company was acquired by industrialist David Brown. Under Brown’s leadership, the company produced the DB1, followed soon thereafter by the BD2 and DB3, the DB designator being the initials of the owner. The company’s technological skills revealed themselves with the major successes of the DB4 model at Lemans, the Nurnburgring and the Sporstcar Championship. Aston Martin soon saw popular success as well, when its DB5 was showcased as the vehicle of choice by fictional British Secret Agent James Bond in the 1960s. In recent years, the company has produced critically acclaimed models such as the DB7, the V12 Vanquish and the exotic DBS.

Aston Martin is currently producing a lineup of some of the most desirable, luxury sports cars in the automotive industry. As a result the company is opening dealers in Europe and, for the first time, in China.
