The Acura luxury and performance brand was introduced to North American consumers in 1986 by its parent organization Honda Motors. From its first car model, the Legend, to its current vehicles that include sedans, sport wagons and crossover SUVs, Acura has combined passenger comfort with automotive precision handling and high performance. Acura innovations have included advanced all-wheel-drive, VTEC engines, drive-by-wire throttle, Bluetooth and DVD-audio systems. Recent models are equipped with new technological features such as blind spot information and keyless start systems. Acura also introduced the first real-time traffic feature in North America.

The company experienced strong sales the first few years on the market. This feat made it one of the best selling luxury brands in the United States. In the last few years, Acura has experienced a turnaround after sales declined during the mid to late 1990s. This was accomplished through the introduction of new models and significant design changes to their existing lineup. These efforts were recognized with numerous awards by the automobile industry, including Import Car of the Year. Acura continues to build upon its reputation for aggressive styling, superior engineering and groundbreaking technologies as evidenced by today’s range of luxury vehicles.
